The Colonial Viper (now known as the Mark I version, thanks to the revised television series) was the primary defense craft for the original Battlestar Galactica when the series aired in the 1970’s.

I have absolutely no idea who made this kit, and when it was produced. I bought it around 2003 on eBay, and it was a one-off item that the seller has never again offered (I’ve watched for one). It appears to be an almost spot-on resin duplicate of the old Monogram kit, right down to the triangular shaped stand hole in the bottom of the engine section.

The kit is cast in light gray resin. The kit is cast as a single piece from the nose to just where the three engine mounts would attach, and it weighs about a pound (solid cast resin). The kit also has the two lower wings, the upper stabilizer, the engine mounts, the cockpit canopy, and two laser cannons.

No instructions were included (not that any are needed), and I did pick up some aftermarket decals from Federation Models a few years back.

The completed kit measures about 11 inches long.
