Cylons – the murderous, robotic creations devised by Man that later turned on their masters and destroyed the Twelve Colonies, forcing the survivors to flee, under the protection of the last surviving Battlestar, the Galactica.

This Base Star is the version from the revised television series, which completed its run in 2009. It is radically different from the circular Base Star seen in the 1970’s television show.

The model is cast in white resin and has a total of four parts. The Base Star itself has two parts (upper and lower halves), but a base and a mounting pole are also included. The kit was cleanly cast and free from bubbles or voids. The only disappointment is that there seems to be a lack of surface detail. Maybe it’s the small scale of the kit, but I was kind of expecting more detail on the inner surfaces of the Base Star. Detail can be added, so it’s not a huge issue.

I acquired this model from another member on StarshipModeler.com in 2006, after the production had ceased.

The completed model will be about 9.5 inches long and 1.5 inches high.
