The Imperial Super Star Destroyer Executor, the personal ship of Lord Darth Vader, is first seen in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. An Imperial Class star destroyer is shown moving slowly through space when suddenly it sails under something that casts a shadow over the entire hull. The camera cuts to a point aft and below the star destroyer, showing a massive hull above it, with engines glowing. Then the camera shifts to a distance shot, showing the same star destroyer underneath a huge hull. That is our first full view of the Executor. The ship is seen again in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. It is attacked near the forest moon of Endor, loses its shields, and ends up crashing into the incomplete Death Star II.

The Arvey Model Products kit replicates this ship beautifully, and in a scale that is manageable for most modelers in that it doesn’t take up huge amounts of space. The completed kit is about 17.5 inches long and just over 6 inches wide.

The kit is cast in light beige resin, and is free of bubbles or voids. My kit has a very slight warping toward the tips of the triangular points on the main hull, but it looks like it will be easily correctable with some hot water. Some parts have been left on resin sheets of flash, so that the parts aren’t lost. Four tiny ball bearings are included for use as the circular shield generators.

Arvey has also included an 11-page instruction manual. One page gives information about the kit and how to assemble it, three pages provide photos of the kit parts for reference, and six pages take the builder through the building process step-by-step with color photos showing parts placement.
