Release Date: 1969

This is a reissued sample of the classic Monogram “First Lunar Landing” kit that was first released in the late 1960’s. The kit portrays the Eagle, landed on the surface of the moon, with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the surface, setting up experiments. An American flag also attaches to the base.

The kit’s parts are molded in white styrene and are mostly free from flash and ejector marks. A single sheet of waterslide decals, two acetate window sheets, a sheet of gold foil, and a base are also included.

The base is molded in gray styrene and has “footprints” molded into the lunar surface. One ejector mark is present almost in the center of the base, in the “shadow” cast by the LEM. There are also outlined areas for the lunar experiments to be attached.

The completed base measures roughly 12 inches by 10 inches.

UPDATE:

I recently found that this kit was reissued as part of the Revell limited production series The History Makers. Here are some photos of the box art.
