Manufacturer:AMT/Ertl
Medium: Styrene
Parts: 16
Status: Available
Release Date: 1989
Skill Level: Beginner
The Adversary Set, first released by AMT/Ertl in 1989, originally included three kits: the Klingon Bird of Prey first seen in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and the Romulan Warbird and the Ferengi Marauder as seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

In 2012, Round 2 re-issued the Adversary Set, but the updated release only includes the Bird of Prey and the Marauder. The Warbird was released as a separate kit. It is important to note that these kits use the original molds and are not retooled kits. Also, these kits are NOT in scale with the USS Enterprise models released as part of the Cadet Series.

The Klingon Bird of Prey is listed as being 1:1400 scale and has a total of nine parts molded in light gray styrene. Detailing is decent, but careful trimming will be needed to remove the parts from the sprues as the attachment points are fairly thick.

The Ferengi Marauder is listed as being 1:3700 scale and has seven parts. The engine panels are molded in clear orange while the other parts are in light gray styrene.

A decal sheet is included, but the markings are pretty basic. The Klingon markings only provide four decals with Klingon lettering. No trifoils are provided, so the builder will have to find their own. The Ferengi Marauder fares better, with windows and a choice of Ferengi markings.

No stands are provided for the models, so as with the trifoils, the builder will have to improvise.

The completed Bird of Prey is 3.25 inches long and the Marauder is 3.75 inches long.

It’s nice to finally get my hands on these ships, and while I’m happy to see that they’ve been reissued, I’m a little disappointed by the missing decals and the lack of stands.
