This is the robot soldier Battle Version from the Hayao Miyazaki movie “Laputa: Castle in the Sky”, which was released in 1986.

In the film, these robots protect the sky city of Laputa, and are not to be trifled with.

Fine Molds’ 1:20 scale styrene kit is molded in light brown, dark brown, and black. Clear parts are included for the eyes. The kit features full articulation of the robot’s arms. The builder can cement the arms in place for a particular pose, or leave them flexible for later movement. An in-scale figure of Pazu is also included, molded in light tan styrene.

As the kit is molded in color, the builder has the option of either leaving the plastic as-is or painting it.

I can’t tell how tall the completed robot is, but Pazu is about 2.5 inches tall, so I’m guessing something in the 10-inch range.

This is a neat kit to add to an anime collection. Fine Molds also produced the robot soldier Gardener Version (kit no. FG-05).
