The Refit version of the Enterprise NX-01 didn’t actually appear in the television series “Star Trek: Enterprise”, which aired from 2001 to 2005. The design was produced by the series’ production designer, Doug Drexler, after production had wrapped and the series had been canceled. The warp engines were adjusted and a secondary hull was added. The net result was to make the NX-01 more realistic and able to fit into the design lineage that would eventually produce the version of the USS Enterprise seen in the 1960’s television series.

The parts count listed in this review is for the Refit version.

Round 2’s model is molded in light gray styrene and the model can be built as either the NX-01 from the television series or as the conceptual NX-01 Refit as designed by Mr. Drexler. Clear parts are included for the warp nacelle grilles and Bussard collectors, windows, navigational deflector and saucer domes.

A full sheet of waterslide decals is provided, and the model can be built either as the Enterprise (NX-01) or the Columbia (NX-02) using the original configuration. Only the Enterprise can be built as the Refit version, and Starfleet pennants are only included with the NX-01 registry number.

A dome-style stand and a metal support rod are included. The stand can be articulated to pivot the model, or fixed to have the model on the flat horizontal plane.

The completed model is about 9 inches long.
