Developed in the late 16th century, black armor represented knights of great strength and distinction. This specially designed suit weighed approximately 100 pounds. Most other suits of armor of the period only weighed between 70 and 85 pounds. Despite its weight, the suit was highly maneuverable, allowing knights to be ready for battle at a moment's notice.

The Monogram styrene kit is a reissue of the classic kit issued by Aurora in 1958 on behalf of Crown Plastics.

Monogram’s kit is molded in light gray styrene. Features include a detailed head and helmet with an opening face guard and decorated armor pieces. Weapons include a lance and a battle club. A display base with historical information is also provided.

The completed model will stand about 8.75 inches tall.
