The Squid Transport Ship, actually the Vorlon Transport, was one of the CGI ships that appeared on the television series “Babylon 5” which ran from 1994 to 1999.

The 1:330 scale kit is made up of primarily resin parts, and four large vacuform “petals” are included for the aft wings. The parts are cleanly cast, but will have to be removed from their pour stubs. This is actually a nice feature for the smaller parts, meaning that they had some type of support structure that was left in place to keep them from breaking.

A two-page instruction sheet was included with the model. But it is text-only, without any photographs to aid with part placement. No decals are included, and no paint marking illustrations are provided. However, nearly half of the second page includes text painting instructions.

If you are a fan of Babylon 5, then you should try to get your hands on one of these kits. They have been out of production for a number of years, so your search may take a while.

According to the box top, the completed model is 15.5 inches in overall length. A Babylon 5 fan website lists the Volon Transport as being 131 meters, or 429 feet in overall length. This means the completed model is about 1:330 scale.
