The Imperial Star Destroyer, the menacing wedge-shaped starship that is the second ship that you ever see when watching the original trilogy (Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) has always been one of my favorite ships.

F-Toys’ 1:15,000 scale kit is beautifully done. It is one of seven kits in F-Toys’ Set #6, including: X-Wing, AT-AT, Millennium Falcon, AT-TE, TIE Fighter, AT-ST, and the Imperial Star Destroyer. There was also an eighth “secret” item but I don’t know what that is. The Millennium Falcon is 1:350, and the remaining ships are 1:144.

The Star Destroyer comes partially assembled in light gray styrene, and no weathering is present. The parts include: main body, three-part stand (base, arm, and ball& socket mount), three (3) main engines and two (2) shield generators. The engines and shield generators are on a small sprue and will have to be carefully removed to prevent breakage.

The model is nicely detailed, with brim trenches that are scale-thin. It’s a decent representation of the Star Destroyer, and one that is decently-sized for use in a diorama.

The assembled Star Destroyer is 4.25 inches long, just under 2.5 inches wide and about an inch high.
