I fondly remember watching “Star Blazers” when I was a kid, and I was happy to be able to pick up the US release of the series on VHS in the mid-1990’s. I’ve also been able to buy the original Japanese movies of Space Battleship Yamato. I’m now in the process of introducing my two daughters to the series.

Nova Forrester, or Yuki Mori (meaning “Forest Snow”) as she is called in the Japanese series, is the radar operator aboard the Argo/Yamato. I never knew that there were any models of members of the crew, so I was happy to find one on eBay about five years ago. I have no idea about the origin of this kit or who the manufacturer is.

The kit is very cleanly cast in off-white resin, and the casting is almost flawless. The main body, from Nova’s toes to her neck, is cast as one part. The arms attach at the upper bicep, so there’s no messy shoulder seam to have to deal with. Her boot heels are also cast as separate parts, so it will be easy to drill them out for a metal pin to hold the kit in place. Her left arm is cast as one part, and her right has two (bicep to wrist, with a separate hand to attach).

The completed kit looks to be about 10.25 inches in height.
