This was one of the kits in the Revell Changers product line, a companion to the Robotech Defenders line that was released in the mid-1980’s. Fans of the original Macross saga will recognize this design as Roy Focker’s VF-1S Valkyrie.

The Changers line was based on ‘Mechs that could change their form. As a result, Vexar can be changes from plane to battroid to Guardian and back again. The kit has interchangeable cockpit sections – one with a pilot figure for the plane and Guardian modes, and a solid armored cockpit for the battroid mode. As with the other kits in the Robotech Changers product line, I have classified this as being an "Intermediate" level kit because of the careful construction that has to be done.

The kit’s parts are molded in light gray styrene that has engraved panel lines and are mostly free of flash. Metal landing gears are also included in the kit. Waterslide decals with markings for the Jolly Rogers are part of the kit.

The completed kit is about 7.5 inches tall in battroid mode.
