This kit, another in the Space Ship Series by Aoshima, joins the Apollo Command Module/Lunar Module (No. 1) and the Apollo Saturn Rocket & Lunar Module (No. 2). One strange thing is that nothing in this series is in a consistent scale. Kit No. 1 is in 1:96, and Kit No. 2 has the Saturn V in 1:400, and the Lunar Module in 1:96.

The buyer should be aware that the box does carry a disclaimer that states: “This kit is an assembly reproduced using the dies of the original model released in 1969. Note in advance that due to this, some parts of the product will have burr and scuffing.”

The Lunar Module (or LM) is in 1:48 and is molded in white styrene. No clear parts are included, so the windows are just open gaps. Very basic detailing is included, including an interior, with the LM being posed in the landed configuration. No lead wires come from the bottom of the landing pads, and there is no gold mylar foil to be attached around the descent stage. The interior needs to be checked, as the instructions show the instrument panel being placed right over the front hatch, covering it. However, this would put the panel too low, requiring the astronauts to sit in the floor, when they piloted the LM from a standing position. Legs include springs, and some basic experiments that were placed on the moon.

Two figures of astronauts are provided, both in a static pose with their legs spread and their arms bent straight out at the elbow. Life support backpacks are included.

Basic decals are included, but two decals are provided for the interior instrument panels. Exterior markings are limited to one American flag and one panel with “United States” in black on a white background. No markings are included for the astronauts.

The completed kit looks to be about 6 inches high and 3 inches wide.
