Luke Skywalker’s X-34 Landspeeder was first seen in Episode IV: A New Hope (or, depending on your age, Star Wars Episode I, which I saw in a theater in 1977 when it was released), but we had to wait until 2012 to finally get a model kit of the dang thing!

Revell has released a kit in 1:32 scale that captures the look of a newer Landspeeder rather than Luke’s rather abused one. The kit has a total of 41 parts, including those rubberized figures that Revell has been known for since they started releasing the pre-painted kits. This kit comes with Luke and C-3P0, both of which are seated in the cockpit area. Sadly, there are no figures for Obi-Wan Kenobi or R2-D2.

The instruction sheet has a total of 8 pages, of which 7 are devoted to building. A display stand is provided for the completed kit.

Some weathering is included on the kit, but nowhere near enough to be Luke’s speeder. And there is no sign of the prominent dent in the very front of the speeder. Also, there is no detailing in the cockpit. All that is provided by way of parts are a bench seat, a blank curved panel, a small gearshift, and a steering wheel.

If you’re looking for a quick slap-together kit of a Landspeeder, this would work. It’s also suitable for a beginning modeler who just wants something to play with. For more experienced modelers, it’s a good starting point to a detailed model, but you will need a lot of reference material to make it look like the one seen on screen.

The completed kit is about 9.5 inches long.
