The Bentenmaru is the main ship from the 2008 manga series “Miniskirt Space Pirates”. The book series was adapted for television in 2012 and was renamed “Bodacious Space Pirates”. A film adaptation is planned for 2014. More information about the ship can be found here:

The 1:1300 scale model’s parts are molded in dark gray, white and red styrene. Clear aqua and smoke gray parts are included for the engine domes. The parts have finely-recessed panel details and no flash or ejector marks is apparent.

The instructions are in fold-out format and include a full-color paint and decal call-out chart. There are over 100 beautifully-printed decals in this kit.



The completed model is about 6.75 inches long.

There is also a companion kit by Bandai (Kit No. HSGCW-06) that shows the Bentenmaru in the configuration seen in the beginning of the television series. A review of the kit is available here on the website.

If you are a fan of anime, this kit is a great addition to your collection, and would look even better if displayed alongside its companion kit.
