Moebius Models has finally released Colonial Viper kits in 1:72, with the initial offering being the venerable Mark II version.

The kit includes two full models, whose parts are molded in light gray. There is some flash present on the sprues, but it looks to be away from the actual parts. Each Viper is separately bagged, and the two sprues of clear parts (cockpit canopy and stand) are sandwiched between the kit parts.

The kits can be built either in landed or flying configuration, with full landing gears. The kit has both “closed” and “open” lower fuselage options. A seated pilot figure is provided for each Viper.

A full sheet of waterslide decals is provided and includes six different tail numbers and the corresponding pilot names (Starbuck, Apollo, Kat, Hot Dog, Husker and another one I can’t read because it’s so small!). Interior decals are also provided for the cockpit.

Each Viper Mk. II is about 4.5 inches long when completed.

I really hope Moebius continues to bring out models in 1:72. While I do have resin Battlestar Galactic kits in 1:72, it would be great to have styrene models of the Viper Mk. VII, the Raptor and the Cylon Raider.
